Splitting the left is too dangerous with so much at risk. It’s up to us to reform the Democratic Party through primaries. Congressional midterms get ~20% attendance, primaries even less than that. Do you know who always makes it to the votes? Retirees, and they tend to vote more conservatively. I’m always the youngest voter there.

30/50 states have partisan primaries, meaning you must be registered as a Democrat to vote in the Democratic primary. This was a contributing factor in Bernie’s 2016 loss. Check if you live in a partisan primary state here: https://ballotpedia.org/Primary_election_types_by_state

The end run around this endless debate is that we need a TEAM OF RIVALS. We should embrace a wide range of third party/independents for state level and House positions, with a pact to primary together for Senate and the Presidency. And I'm not just talking centrist/progressive either. There should be a third party that's a raft for current elected Republicans with a shred of conscience to jump onto. Our goal shouldn't be to scrape by 2026 or 2028, it should be to have an absolute tsunami from all sides that suffocates MAGA.

I like this idea a great deal. Honestly it could even work in Senate races as Osborn just proved. Wrote abt it here, take a look! https://open.substack.com/pub/austintwoods/p/democratic-decoupling?r=ck7ds&utm_medium=ios

The political parties do everything they can to avoid 3rd party talk.

Y’all’s just stop it! Look at history. This has NEVER worked. What HAS worked is a 50 state strategy. With the GOP as weak and unpopular as it is, running on radical truth in all 50 states may turn the tide in our favor, provided we can nominate the right truth teller. I’m thinking Chris Murphy, Cory Booker, etc

Splitting the vote is how we got here. More people voted against Trump than for Trump. If all third-party votes last November went to Harris, she would have won.

The congressional midterms only get ~20% attendance. Congressional primaries see even less turnout. I’m all for new blood in the seats, but we need to do that through primaries.
