This Israel Palestine conflict is just part of a larger ideological conflict, and for my purposes religion is an ideology. There is an eternal conflict between Jews and Muslims, especially Arab/Bedouin Muslims.
It dates back to the beheading of the member of the Bani Quarayza, a Jewish tribe, in the market of Medina. Muhammad wanted their wealth, so he accused them of treachery and beheaded the entire tribe, regarless of age or gender. It is the Qu'ran.
Subsequently al Bukhari wrote in hadith , book 56, hadith 139, Sahih 2925-2926, that the day of judgement (end times) won't come until war is waged on the Jews and even the rocks will cry out, there is a Jew behind me, kill him
And finally, all land over which the flag of Muhammad as flown is forever Muslim, and if dispossessed must be reclaimed, and that includes israel (and Spain), and having the Jew occupy and control the third holiess site in Islam, the Haram al Sharif or Dome of the Rock and al Aqsa Mosque, is blasphemy, and insult to Islam and can not stand.
So long as there is a Jew, that is not subservient to Islam, on sacred Arab soil, there will be no peace.
And on the other side of the equation. The Flag of Israel is symbology. The Blue stripe at the top is the Nile, the one at the bottom is the Euphrates and in between all land is Hebrew symbolized by the Star of David or Seal of Solomon.
The whole conflict is eternal and irrational, because religion is irrational
From a pragmatic and secular POV. Israel is a land locked aircraft carrier, within striking range of the capitals of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, and keep the Emirs, King in check in case they have any smart ideas.
That reason is rendered null and void, because Trump has done, what the Arab nations could not do, turned off the oil spigot, upon which much of the world depends.
And the Arabs have discovered that they really can't afford to use oil to blackmail the west, as the UAE is using it's business relationship with the Trump family, to obtain a bail out, as the Trump war has destroyed their economy and is threatening their very survival.
I noticed Tim Miller kind of does the same 'blending' that Sarah did with Mamdani and Piker. Right after Charlie Kirk was killed he would keep conflating people celebrating Kirk's death with people saying they didn't like Charlie Kirk. I kind of just assumed this is a Political Comms thing.
Sara also acknowledges that she wasn’t familiar with Hassan but yet she decides that she’s the authority about his content just based on clips she found on a Google search. She’s never watched his content in context.
Just wanted to jump in here and say that I was watching AOC play among us on Hassan’s stream in 2020. I have followed Hassan since 2015. He’s the reason I learned about twitch. I’m 61 years old. I have also followed the bulwark since they started and Sara’s wrong about a lot of stuff. I watch because I don’t mind hearing opinions that I disagree with. I feel like it helps me sharpen my own focus.
The Bulwark is just slumming with the Left, because they need an audience and are nothing without one. They haven't changed their right-wing beliefs, which undermined the Democrats and their FDR underpinnings for over 50 years. I resent us being used, while they wait out the implosion of MAGA, so they can go back over and pick up the pieces. They have not changed one bit. I've not heard a single mea culpa from any of them for all the damage they have done over the last 50 years. Of course Sarah longwell smears people, the political right has perfected the practice with their dog whistling for over 50 years, she should pretty well be considered an expert.
