It’s an abusive relationship Trump and the ENTIRE Republican Party are abusing and gaslighting everyone everywhere all the time. I wrote the first law review article in the world on the effects of domestic violence in child custody cases in California, published in 1997. This entire experience of watching these people do this is like yep, been there. Had that done to me. I lived in Iran during the Iran Iraqi war as the wife of a national airline pilot for their flag carrier. So, yes, I do know what I am saying. These people are abusive and will keep doing it until enough of us say not this time, jerk.
This week I was in federal court (always a beautiful space) and in the lobby a bunch of guys who looked like ICE were sort of regrouping. All wearing the same shirts. I thought hmmm maybe they feel ICED out in this particular neck of the woods in downtown Santa Ana California…. Maybe they were not ICE but they were dressed alike in sort of non uniform outfits. I just left. But we do this one small thing at a time, and we vote and we support candidates and keep on going.
I watched this spectacle from North of the border. Unfortunately, I can’t say I wasn’t surprised. I was shocked, but not surprised. Donald Trump and his ilk has shown their true colours and has worn them on their sleeves for all to see. And yet so many have turned their eyes, ignoring the truth. great article Evan.
Crazy isn't it? I was sold on American exceptionalism in my kindergarten class when I first spoke the words Liberty and Justice For All.
I spent my early adult years fighting facism if you think that is what Brezhnev was.
I've spent my entire voting adulthood supporting politicians that fight for the rights of all Americans. ALL AMERICANS regardless of the labels people want to put on them.
I didn't expect to be retired and fighting the same old tired b.s. from people whose goals are to shit on other people and punch down.
I guess in my youth, those marches to the cemetery to honor the WW2 vets on Memorial Day and watching the planes return full of body bags from Vietnam gave me a sense of patriotism that drumpf and his repusslican followers can't appropriate for their own vile use.
Patriotism is honoring the dream and purpose of those that died defending a principle that drumpf and his followers can't even conceive of.
It's sad that my life will end before America rights the ship let alone achieves the founders visions.
